We are looking for an experienced Mechanical CAD Designer / Agricultural Equipment Designer to design an innovative ridger system for banana cultivation – Sayon’s Kela Sakthi Ridger.
Project Overview
The Kela Sakthi Ridger is designed to perform two critical agricultural operations simultaneously:
Creating water pathways for irrigation
Performing weeding between crop rows
This eliminates the need for separate machines or manual labour, improving efficiency and reducing costs for farmers.
Problem Statement
Banana farmers like Saravanan currently face:
₹52,000 expenditure per hectare
Around 600 labour hours for creating water pathways
Reworking required every 3–7 days
Difficulty in finding consistent seasonal labour
This project aims to mechanize and simplify this repetitive, labour-intensive process.
Scope of Work
You will be responsible for:
Designing a field-ready ridger attachment/system
Creating:
3D CAD models (SolidWorks / Creo preferred)
2D manufacturing drawings
Assembly design with BOM
Ensuring:
Compatibility with power weeders or small tractors
Adjustable width for banana row spacing
Efficient soil displacement for water channel formation
Integrated weeding mechanism
Optimizing for:
Low-cost manufacturing
Rugged field conditions
Ease of use for farmers
