We are developing a premium stainless steel insulated water bottle and currently working with a manufacturing factory overseas. The current design has a handle durability issue, and the factory has stated that the requested modification cannot be implemented without redesigning the handle pivot structure.
We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer or product design engineer who can evaluate the current design and propose a reliable pivot/hinge solution suitable for injection molding and mass production.
Current Issues
Handle drops down after some usage.
Factory currently uses plastic-to-plastic pivot contact (PP material).
We prefer a reinforced pivot structure, ideally using a stainless steel hinge pin or another durable mechanism.
The factory claims the mold cannot be modified easily and suggests a redesign.
Scope of Work
Review existing drawings, photos, and factory feedback.
Evaluate the current pivot mechanism.
Propose an improved handle structure that:
Prevents handle from dropping down
Withstands ≥5,000 open/close cycles
Is compatible with injection molding
Works with stainless steel bottle geometry
Provide updated 3D CAD design and technical recommendations.
Deliverables
Updated CAD files (STEP / SolidWorks / Fusion 360)
Suggested pivot mechanism design
Engineering explanation suitable to communicate with our factory.
