About the job
We need updates made to an existing MBS (Metal Building Software) file before the engineer can stamp the building. The engineer has flagged specific changes that must be made:
Overhead Door Change:
There is an overhead door on each sidewall running to the eave strut.
Option A: Add a brace from the eave strut up to the first purlin uphill.
Option B: Stop the jamb at the girt above the header and use jamb extensions above.
Either solution will work for this project.
Rafter Flange Brace Bolts (Endwall Columns):
Due to significant horizontal wind loads at the top of the endwall columns, the rafter flange brace bolts need to be upgraded.
Change rafter flange brace bolts at the endwall column locations to ½” dia A325 bolts.
At a minimum, this applies to the ones directly above or on either side of the endwall column, but for simplicity, you could update all endwall rafter flange braces to ½” dia A325 bolts.
Deliverables:
Update the MBS file with the above changes.
Return the revised file for engineer approval and stamping.
Urgency:
This needs to be completed ASAP so we can proceed with engineering and permitting.
Attachments:
Current MBS file (will be uploaded after acceptance).
Engineer notes for reference.
