About the job
We have a working PCB and an existing 3D-printed enclosure prototype for a very small consumer electronics device (~25 × 20 mm). We are looking for an experienced industrial/product designer to redesign and refine the enclosure into a premium, manufacturing-ready product.
The project includes:
Redesigning the enclosure around the existing PCB, battery, display, USB-C port and single physical button.
Creating a premium consumer-electronics appearance with consistent radii, clean seams and a matte black housing.
Integrating the small TFT display behind a glossy black/smoked PMMA cover lens, recessed and flush with the enclosure, similar to the reference image provided.
Designing the PMMA lens pocket, adhesive allowance and manufacturing dimensions/tolerances.
Proper battery and cable management to prevent movement or pinching.
Secure PCB/display/battery retention.
Designing a reliable enclosure assembly method (snap-fit, screws or another suitable approach).
DFM considerations for both initial 3D-printed prototypes and potential future injection molding.
Precise USB-C and button openings/details.
Expected deliverables:
Native editable CAD files
STEP + STL manufacturing/prototyping files
Separate PMMA lens drawing/file (STEP/DXF as appropriate)
Exploded assembly view
Standard product views
