About the job
I am developing a plastic/RDF pyrolysis process plant and am looking for an experienced mechanical/process equipment engineer to design the primary pyrolysis reactor.
This is not a simple CAD drafting job. I need an engineer who can develop the mechanical design, perform the necessary engineering calculations, and produce drawings that can subsequently be provided to a qualified fabricator.
Scope of Work
The selected engineer will be responsible for the complete mechanical design of the primary pyrolysis reactor, including:
Reactor vessel mechanical design
Shell and end-head design
Internal arrangement
Heating arrangement/interface
Feed and discharge connections
Vapour outlet arrangement
Nitrogen purge connection
Manway/access arrangement
Thermocouple/instrument connections
Drain/clean-out arrangement where required
External supports and structural attachments
Insulation/cladding arrangement
Thermal expansion considerations
Flanges, nozzles and connection details
Design for fabrication and maintenance
Engineering Requirements
The engineer should provide calculations/engineering basis for:
Design pressure and temperature
Shell and head thickness
Nozzle reinforcement where applicable
Mechanical loads
Support design
Thermal expansion
Relevant applicable design code/standard
Material selection
Welding and fabrication considerations
The reactor will operate at elevated temperature, so thermal design considerations and high-temperature mechanical integ...

The reactor will operate at elevated temperature, so thermal design considerations and high-temperature mechanical integrity are important.
Required Deliverables
3D CAD model of the complete reactor
General Arrangement (GA) drawing
Detailed fabrication/shop drawings
Sectional views showing internal arrangement
Nozzle schedule and nozzle orientation
Support drawings
Flange and connection details
Material/BOM list
Engineering calculations
Manufacturing-ready drawings with dimensions, tolerances and welding details
Native CAD files plus PDF/DXF/DWG deliverables
Engineer Requirements
Please apply only if you have previous experience with process equipment, reactors, pressure vessels, chemical/petrochemical equipment, or high-temperature industrial vessels.
Experience with ASME or equivalent pressure-vessel/mechanical design standards is strongly preferred.
In your proposal, please provide:
Examples of similar equipment you have designed
Your preferred CAD software
Relevant engineering/design experience
Estimated time required
Fixed-price or hourly quotation
What engineering codes/standards you propose to use
I will provide the process/design basis and operating requirements to the selected engineer.
The objective is to obtain a properly engineered reactor design that can be reviewed and subsequently fabricated by a qualified manufacturer.
