About the job
We are an early-stage Brazilian company developing two equally important product platforms for bathroom environments:
Wall-integrated products: permanently integrated into architectural surfaces, requiring high durability, long service life, moisture resistance, fatigue resistance and serviceability.
Cabinet-integrated products: compact functional modules integrated into bathroom cabinetry, requiring minimal use of internal space, adjustable installation and compatibility with standard furniture construction.
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Product Designer / Mechanical Engineer to develop functional products, not merely CAD models.
The products may involve:
moving panels, hinges and pivots;
concealed mechanisms;
removable/serviceable components;
structural plastic parts;
adjustable mounting;
hybrid polymer/metal assemblies;
tolerances, fits and fastening systems.
Manufacturing strategy
FDM 3D printing with engineering-grade polymers will be the primary manufacturing process for commercial products during the initial and intermediate stages of the company — not only for prototyping.
Experience with DfAM is therefore highly valued, including:
print orientation and anisotropic strength;
support reduction;
FDM tolerances and repeatability;
engineering polymers;
print time and material efficiency;
assembly and maintenance;
durability under repeated use.
Injection molding or other processes may be adopted later when production vol...

Desired background
Mechanical product development
Parametric CAD: SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, Inventor or equivalent
Plastic part design
DfAM / end-use FDM
Compact mechanisms
DFM / DFA
Engineering drawings
Experience with consumer products, architectural hardware, bathroom products, furniture hardware or appliances is a plus.
Confidentiality
The products have not yet been launched. Detailed images, dimensions and mechanisms will only be shared with shortlisted candidates after an NDA.
Please include
portfolio of functional products;
CAD software used;
experience with FDM as an end-use manufacturing process;
experience with mechanisms and plastic parts;
location and availability;
hourly or project-based rate;
confirmation that native editable CAD files are included.
We intend to start with a paid pilot project, with potential for ongoing development across multiple products.
