DFW Packaging/Manufacturing Engineer or Mechanical Product Design Engineer - Body Cream Container Anyone

About the job

I’m looking for a Packaging/Manufacturing Engineer or Mechanical Product Design Engineer to help develop a functional internal cover for a luxury women’s body cream container.

The cover will sit over an existing silicone base/liner, with the primary purpose of protecting the integrity of the body cream. However, the customer will need to be "forced "to turn the cover 180° prior to opening. The reason for this is to gently stir the top layer of the cream. The final picture attached is the current concept. The protruding bar on the bottom of the cover is what will gently stir the top layer of the cream.

My current concept involves a two-part assembly with a bayonet-style locking mechanism, but I am not committed to this approach. I’m very open to alternative mechanisms if you can explain why another design would be more effective, manufacturable, reliable, or user-friendly.

I was also hoping for guidance on the ideal material to use for manufacturing. One challenge is that the ceramic container has an opening that is more narrow than the base. So the ideal material for manufacturing must be flexible enough to insert into the opening. I can discuss this more if interested.

Ideal Experience

I’m especially interested in someone with experience in:

Mechanical closures, locking mechanisms, bayonet mounts, twist-lock systems, snap-fit mechanisms, or similar assemblies
Designing small plastic parts for manufacturing and 3D printing
Creating functional prototy... read more

Mechanical closures, locking mechanisms, bayonet mounts, twist-lock systems, snap-fit mechanisms, or similar assemblies
Designing small plastic parts for manufacturing and 3D printing
Creating functional prototypes and production-ready CAD files
Designing products with a refined, feminine, luxury aesthetic

The product is part of a luxury women’s body-care brand, so the final solution needs to be both functional and visually thoughtful.

I will need the final design provided as a 3D-printable file so that I can have physical prototypes made and tested. I would like the appropriate CAD/source files as well as a print-ready format such as STL or STEP, depending on what is most appropriate for the design and printing method.

I've uploaded pictures of the current silicone base and the current cover to give an idea of sizing (blue). You'll also see the ceramic container opened. I'm hoping for a relatively simple solution read less
