Hey everyone — first off, thank you all for the effort and creativity that’s gone into your submissions so far. I’ve seen some truly innovative ideas and clever mechanisms come through already.
At this stage, I just wanted to check in with a few notes as we approach the halfway mark:
Functionality over flash: I’m leaning toward designs that feel intuitive and realistic to manufacture, clean, and use daily. Simplicity and reliability go a long way here.
Sealing and powder control are key — mechanisms need to fully isolate powder until release without leaking into the water chamber, even during shaking or transport.
Compactness matters: If the mechanism eats into liquid capacity too much or makes the bottle bulky, it’s a harder sell.
Bonus points for designs that allow drinking water before mixing, easy cleaning, and minimal moving parts.
Also — if you haven’t submitted anything yet or you're on the fence, I’m absolutely still open to new submissions. No decisions have been made at this point. If you message me directly, I’m happy to share what I’m looking for and walk you through the process. I will tell you exactly what i want and we can work on it together. It’s been very collaborative so far: you submit an initial idea, I ask questions, give feedback, and we refine it together.
Excited to see what the second half of the contest brings — keep up the great work!
Hey sorry I’ve been traveling this week and don’t know if I was super clear on the last comment. Just wanted to say, yes the ability to make it cool looking will eventually play a part, but I’m most concerned about just getting the function down. The first few submissions I received seemed like a departure from what I had in mind, but they’ve gotten better as time has gone on. The images I uploaded are AI just to show a general direction I’m going for. Your final product does not need to look like that, but just wanted to illustrate a protein chamber inside the bottle
Hey Mr. Cad designs thank you for your interest. As of right now, the most important thing will be the mechanism that triggers the protein to drop into the liquid below and what that whole experience is like. Is it easy, or even fun to activate? The visual appeal of the bottle is less important, but would be a bonus, just cause we can always refine the look of the bottle once we are sure of how it will work. Thanks again for your interest and please comment or message me if I can provide any other helpful info
"Is the shaker bottle visually appealing, modern, and consumer-friendly?" with this question on wants section...i assume you are focusing more on the gripping & operating feture of internal release. rather than on the form of the bottle itself..is it so? AND the images you attached to the project in attachement section are AI generated ...or an inspiration/refrence image from your side ?
Hi Andrew ..... Does the external looks & design ....a consideration factor for this competion Or will you fully focus on the interna releasing chamber ?
📣 Update for all designers: Thanks to everyone who’s submitted so far. I’ve been actively providing feedback and commenting on entries to help guide future designs. Still early in the game — if you haven’t submitted yet, now’s the time to get in!. Looking for creativity and a unique twist on functionality. I've seen some interesting designs, but still very open to new takes on this design! Let's see what you've got! Feel free to reach out with any questions!
📣 Update for all designers: Please check the Additional Info section. We’ve added details about an expired patent and are looking for novel, patentable mechanisms that differ from push-button trap doors.
Ive uploaded some sample sketches of the general idea im looking for. I dont need or want the end product to look exactly like that, but just wanted to show the general idea I was looking for. simplicity is key. dont need to over engineer it, it should be easy to use, easy to clean, and aesthetically pleasing. dont want tons of tiny parts that need to be assembled/disassembled. But I appreciate everyones interest in the project and look forward to seeing everyones submissions.
Hello! We can design, and assemble the product as well as create renders, animations, and technical documents to provide you with a full package throughout the design of this product. We will be submitting our design soon. In the mean time, if you would like to have a look at our services and portfolio, make sure to check our portfolio section!
Im glad there's already some interest in it! This project means a lot to me and I wanted to make sure it was done right, so I tried to make the reward sufficient! Im hoping to collaborate on some work with the winner afterward as well. But feel free to contact me if you need anything or have any questions. I'll do my best to get back in a timely manner
It's been a while I haven't see a interested contest like that on cadcrowd. Thanks for give us designer's toy 😋!
Let's be creative. Have you all a good luck ✨
I used chatgpt to generate an image of the general idea. So you'll see the shaker bottle and a detached internal chamber floating inside the bottle. I have no engineering background so I have no idea how it will work underneath the hood, thats where your expertise comes in. I'm extremely open to your creative input and will monitor the contest closely to provide commentary to help move things in the right direction
Hey, thank you for your interest. I don’t have a sketch yet. Im not a great artist :D but I can describe it:
Think of the powder chamber as being internally sealed, and when you press a button or lever on the lid, it triggers a spring-loaded mechanism that opens a small hatch at the bottom of the chamber—allowing the powder to fall into the liquid below. The spring would be compact and hidden inside the upper portion of the bottle, not visible from the outside or taking up room in the main chamber. Ideally, you’d feel a satisfying click or snap when it releases.
The goal is to keep the main chamber clean and open, with a more streamlined look externally—something sleek and modern that could compete with products like BlenderBottle Pro or Fellow drinkware.
