I'm with Jim. Usually in "ID" there will be an interview in the beginning. Then some first concept sketches are made, in two or more iterations. Also something like a moodboard is made. A product is more likely to emerge from a 'we do' rather than 'make me something approximately like this".
So lets say we are sketching some concepts where you are choosing from. If only one variant is made in 3D of the 4 assamblies, would this be ok?
@Jim81; thank you for the clarification. I hope you will take the challenge and provide some concept you like. You can provide one consept first for feedback before all 4 is made.
ID is "Industrial Design". My point is, this is typically done up front prior to details. So you can spend weeks on 4 assemblies, but if you don't like the way it looks it's all scrap.
@fvollbrecht; 10-100pcs for prototyping. 500-1000pcs for volum order. The IML idea was to have an transparant window for the PIR sensor. Other means of transparent area can also be evaluated.
What is the planned quantity of your Housings? I had many projects and moulds where IML where much more expensive then a commen label, even including the cost for a stick them on the part.
@Jim81; Thank you for your interest to the contest. Assume Id is Inner diameter?, The short duedate is due to the summer vacation and can be postponed at the end of the contest if needed. I want to release the award before summer vacation. The final design will anyway be adjusted later to fit the final PCB design. I hope this clarified your comment.
(4) assemblies required. if you don't hit the Id (which there is no hint of what is wanted) you have to redo them all. by day 24 you have no chance. definitely a challenge.
