Description:
I need a computer enclosure (Case) designed, it will house a full ATX computer board, graphic card, RAM, CPU & PSU.

It will be made from sheet metal (AI) for better thermal dissipation, has to be easy to access all hardware for upgrade.
Wants:
i just have general information for now, so i evaluate as i get them.
Don't Wants:
I don't want a design just for looks that does not have any clearances between parts, and it has to be sheet metal and in solidworks with electronics connection diagram (for LED) etc..
Ask for Sample:
Show me at least the top enclosure design in solidworks sheet metal.
Software:
  1. SolidWorks
Additional Information
Sorry forgot the dimension & a couple of other things;

Metric 45cm(W) x 42cm(D) x 52cm(H) [IF it looks narrow, than increase the W & D and shorten the H to make it look similar to images & give extra space below for hardware.

Sheet Metal (AI) Gauge 5 - 0.1819'' - 4.620mm or whatever you might deem appropriate, you are the designers & you should recommend the right thickness.

It must fit full ATX PSU,MB,VGA and HEATSINK with reasonable size, you can use ready made models of these from GrabCad or other free cad online, just make sure they are dimensionally accurate.

Gentlemen,
Even though i am not 100% happy with the entries i won't delay this any more & have looked & studied all the entries provided;

Unfortunately, many of the designs made looked good but were non functional or can not be produced/Machined, some were fine but users had to make the case a lot bigger to fix everything.
Therefor without any further adieu, i have made my decision and will announce the winner in the next day or so.

i would like to thank you all for trying & a better luck next time for those that i didn't choose.

Regards,

Naser

Hi Naser
1_Is it OK with you to do the project by SolidWorks 2017?
2_Do you give any Extra bonus for CFD Analysis?
3_It is very expensive by the Al thickness 0.1819'' and Heavy! are you sure about it?
4_you need to have the back face perpendicular to button with the board because the graphic Card and other components may I to design back side perpendicular?
5_I'm new in Cadcrawd, is there any way to have Chat anywhere to discuss some other issues?
Regards

Hi Naser
So now, have you changed hinge location from mid-part (as in drawings) to the rear bottom?

Guys, sheet metal gauge should be recommended by you guys since you're the experts, i just added when it was requested by some.

Again, even dimensions, if you google full ATX M/B PSU etc or even google some full ATX cases than you can take dimensions based on these & adjust accordingly.

I just want it to look aesthetically appealing & similar to my drawings, so the lid for example need to start from the bottom, just above or close to the drives, this way when i flip it open, i have access to M/B RAM etc & will help give it better look.

Again, if you can make changes to help improve the looks & i like it than i don't mind.

Finally, today you don't need to make the full DVD-ROM cut, we can use these slot drives & just make the slot cut in the case & have the drive hidden.

You can use 3mm sheet metal,
One DVD-Rom will do for now.
Regular buttons will do, light can be added later & no need for motorized lid.

I just want it to look close to my drawings and dimensions are not fixed, i just looked them up on the net, so adjust accordingly to have a similar shape to what i have.

Hi Naser
Do you really want a sheet metal size of 4 mm or greater?
I am an experienced Sheet metal designer. For the case you provided, the best option would be to use Gauge size in between 12 to 19 (i.e. from 2.05 mm to .91 mm)
And are u sure to stick to the pyramid shape you provided? Because truncated pyramid shape (curved top, filleted edges) will be aesthetically appealing, easy to use/manufacture and safe to use design.

Hello Naser,

Working on an entry... I have a few comments / questions.

- 4.6mm sheet metal seems very thick for a computer case (even one of this size)
- - Are you OK, with 3mm?
- In your picture(s), you have 2 dvd drives...
-- How many hard drives are you planning on?
- Lights?
- Motorized lid?
- Are you looking for custom shaped power buttons?

Thank you

I just want to add a couple of things to help with any confusions:

I need it to be as close to the pictures as possible, in terms of functionality.

1- Must be made from two separate parts, top & bottom (Top being the cover that flips open at the back).
1- Hinges at the back but since this is an old drawing i'd rather have them internal not external.
2- Small opening at the top to add a rubber pad as in the images i provided.
3- Slidable tray for the M/B
4- Flip Switch at the front to open the top Lid cover.
5- Opening for the fans must be discreet or have a nice astatic (looks good)
6-Bottom Legs for four corners that allows the case to be off ground to allow intake air at the bottom but has to also look nice without ruining the looks of the case.

Solidworks native only and 2D drawings.

Hello CH,

I design sheet metal canopy for compressors. I can try making this one too.
I saw your comments for why to need it done in Solidworks (the feature tree modifications one). If I submit to you STL, STEP or IEGS, will it be ok for you to review?
Regarding modifications you can comment any updates you need, which I can modify later. And as for the final output, you get standard 3d files + manufacturing drawings.
Please let me know if this will work with you.

Thanks and best regards,
Aniket

Adam,
This was drawn back in 2000, so no floppy disk is required anymore, for CD Rom, today you can get DVD-R slotted as used in laptops & with this you only need to make a cut-Slot in the base & attach that a little away from the panel.

For USBs, you can still make them at an angle.

New best smart collar
We at wizbond want to make a device that will help dog owners in various tasks and measurements.  Think smart collar, but better. Our key features are: 1. GPS locator using LaRoWan technology and powered by Helium blockchain infrastructure. 2. Geofencing, using our app allows dog owners to configure the virtual fence where the dog is supposed to stay. Once the dog leaves the perimeter the app will send a notification to the owner informing him about it 3. Temperature sensor to know what is the temperature of the dog and whether the dog is sick or just in a hot environment 4. Accelerometer to know the position of the dog ( standing, lying, running, and so on )  5. “Collar off/on”. We want a sensor that will show whether the collar has been taken off or not 6. A small speaker. To be able to send sound commands to the dog remotely. Think asking your phone to call the dog and the dog began to hear the voice of the owner saying something like "come back”. This feature is expected to be used in pair with training courses for the dogs.
New bow toy, for a bow and arrow toy
Design a new bow for a bow and arrow / slingshot toy for kids. Just the bow part, we will use existing arrows and targets. The bow design should be simple and easy to manufacture, but unique. so that requires creativity :) more details in the attached document.

Tankless water heater
Design a tankless water heater. Something different yet pleasing to the eye. If it was in your home, Laundry room, garage, utility closet. Something futuristic, yet simple and doesn't stand out too much. No buttons or LCD screen. Can have LEDs and so forth to make the design better and stand out a little. The file will need to be able to convert and use. 3D model this and then put it into 3d rendering to make it look good. Use what software you want long as we can utilize the file for later purposes. First place will continue working with us on the design for including full case design for manufacturing, and other renderings of the design along with the inside for mounting parts. For now, we are looking for the best design and someone that will be able to help in the area listed above for future work.
Convertible Eyelash Curler
The goal is to design an eyelash curler that has easily swappable parts. The 2 swappable parts are: Top Plate and Rubber Holder. Curler parts can be metal, plastic or both. Features: - The fewer number of total parts the better - Open field of view - when the curler is in open state (handles are separated), nothing obstructing the field of view of the eye. But once you bring the handles of the curler together and the curling mechanism closes, it ok if the there are obstructions then. - The Top Plate must press onto the rubber with a pretty good force, so the mechanism cannot be "weak" Design cannot be the one that already exists by googling it.
