Formula Student Tube Chassis

I designed a tubular steel spaceframe for a Formula Student car in CATIA and evaluated its torsional stiffness using ANSYS. The rear suspension points were fixed while equal and opposite vertical forces were applied at the front wheel locations to simulate chassis twist. From the deformation field I calculated the global torsional stiffness of the chassis (1641 Nm/deg) and the specific stiffness relative to mass, while checking stress levels against the yield strength of the selected structural steel.
