DeBeers Venetia Mine. My position was as a senior design draughtsman at a project support office for DeBeers.
My duties included the following : Drafting of structural drawings
: Drafting of civil drawings
: Drafting of mechanical drawings
: Drafting of piping drawings
: Drafting of plate work drawings
With the aid of AutoCAD and Inventor. Drawings was all done in 3D
Site measurements and inspections.
Structural drafting included :
1. Location / Site Plans - Relation to other structures, roads, boundaries, ect.
2. General arrangements - Plans, sections and elevations for leading dimensions
Of floors, rooms, machinery, cranes, ect.
3. Marking plans - Location and mark numbers of steelwork in floors,
roof and elevations.
4. Detail drawings - Details of structural members showing size,
materials, drilling and welding for fabrication.
Civil drafting included :
1. Location / Site Plans - Relation to other structures, roads, boundaries, ect.
2. Plans and elevations - Re and unreinforced concrete structures, foundations,
floor slabs, pits, drain trenches, ect.
Architectural plans and elevations. Details of
of office buildings, control room, workshops, ect.
3. Detail drawings - Details of unreinforced concrete and reinforced
steel layout and details. Sections, enlarged details
and anchor bolts.
4. Bending Schedule - Details of all reinforced steel, codes material, lengths, ect.
5. Sewer and drainage - Layout and longitudinal sections.
Details of sewer boxes, grating plans, sloping floors,
trenches, ect.
Mechanical drafting included :
1. Location / Site Plans - Relation to other structures, roads, boundaries, ect.
2. General arrangements - Plans, sections and elevations for leading dimensions
Of floors, rooms, machinery, cranes, ect.
3. Marking plans - Location and mark numbers of steelwork in floors,
roof and elevations.

Plate work drafting included :
1. General arrangements - Plans, sections and elevations for leading dimensions
Of shutter panels, chutes, ect.
2. Detail Drawings - Details of plate work members showing size, materials,
Drilling and welding for fabrication.
3. Material lists - Providing material lists for ordering of steel, plates and
Bolts.
Faro 3D Scanning of all equipment and buildings as required for work load. Accident and incident scene scanning for investigation and presentation purposes. Processing and working with 3D point clouds using Faro scene, Autodesk Recap and Autodesk Naviswork. 3D modeling from point clouds using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCad. New Equipment installation and as build drawings done from pint clouds and 3D Model.
