Hi there! My name is Kevin Moreno and I am currently a graduate student at Virginia Tech researching mechanical vibrations. Although vibrations research is my passion, I have spent countless hours modeling and designing mechanical systems on Solidworks and ANSYS for my own research, class projects, and processing 3D printing requests during my time working at Terrapin Works. One of my biggest accomplishments with 3D modeling and mechanical design was being the team lead for my senior design project. My team designed a lifting mechanism designed to help physically limited people put heavy items onto their shopping carts at the store. My team ultimately won 2nd place for best overall design out of over 30 design teams. 3D modeling and mechanical design is my bread and butter. When given a mechanical design request, I always start off thinking about the best way to design it and visualize it with the aid of CAD software. I am always eager to see what I can make with CAD!

  • Lab Coordinator & Engineering Specialist Terrapin Works · Part-time Aug 2016 – Aug 2018 2 yrs College Park, MD, United States Processed over 100 print requests during my time in Terrapin works. Often it would require some level of 3D modeling. Eventually, I was promoted to Lab Coordinator & Engineering, which oversaw the 3D printing projects that took place in the Advanced Fabrication Lab.
  • 3D Innovation Lab - Lab Manager Howard Community College · Part-time Feb 2016 – Aug 2016 6 mos Columbia, MD, United States Co-founded the 3D Innovation Lab, which provided 3D printing services to the departments in Howard Community College. My roles were maintaining the 3D printers and processing 3D printing requests. This would often involve modeling and designing the requested parts.
