    To explain further: Transportation Engineering review and approval is required whenever there is construction in the city's public right-of-way (ROW), such as changing the location of the curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveways or curb ramps; or construction of lighting, traffic signs, or medians. Public Works also typically require projects that increases vehicular and/or pedestrian traffic to improve, construct, or reconstruct public sidewalks and/or street infrastructure within the ROW adjacent to their property.

    This includes the review and evaluation of transportation engineering plans, traffic impact studies, site development plans, architectural drawings and/or project/development documents submitted for approval utilizing applicable codes/standards/guidelines/laws, appropriate municipal ordinances, and construction and engineering standards, and check engineering calculations for transportation. Also determine review fees and authorizes the release of approved documents for city permits.

    Interact with the public, professional design consultants, project managers, contractors, and city inspectors to communicate permit application procedures and regulatory/ code requirements. Participate in design coordination meetings regarding private development projects and city, state, and regional capital improvement projects in order to ensure timely approval and completion of projects, and resolve any problem areas.
