About
I am a manufacturing engineer and machinist who makes designs
manufacturable. My background is CNC milling, tool and die design,
fixture and workholding design, process development, and automation
support, built on hands-on shop floor experience rather than theory. I
have worked in machining, tool and die design, manufacturing
engineering, and mechanical and electrical shop planning.
What I do for clients:
- Design for manufacturability review. I take your model or print and
tell you what will drive cost, what will not hold tolerance, and what
to change before you send it out for quote. This routinely saves more
than my fee.
- CNC programming and post-processing for 3-axis milled parts, including
toolpath strategy, tool selection, and cycle time reduction.
- Tool, die, fixture, and workholding design, from one-off setups to
repeatable production fixturing and quick-change systems.
- Process design and development: operation sequencing, routing,
repeatability improvement, and cycle time reduction on your existing
equipment.
- Automation support: part handling and workholding design, process
layout, and an honest assessment of which operations are actually
worth automating.
- GD&T interpretation, print cleanup, and production-ready drawings with
sane tolerances and datum schemes.
Software: I run Fusion 360 CAD/CAM in house. My SolidWorks, NX, Creo,
and Mastercam experience comes from production environments, so I can
work from your existing data in any of them. Deliverables come as
neutral formats (STEP, IGES, Parasolid, DXF, PDF) or native Fusion
files. If you need native SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or Mastercam files as
the deliverable, say so up front so we can sort out licensing before
starting. I also write Python, which is useful for post-processor
adjustments, batch file handling, and anything repetitive.
The work I am looking for:
