After completion of Secondary School Education, I successfully completed my fully indentured Apprenticeship in Aircraft Toolmaking and Tool Design at the British Aircraft Corporation in Weybridge, Surrey. During the five year long apprenticeship I attended Brooklands Technical College, Weybridge on a work release basis and, on completion, was awarded City and Guilds Certificate in Aircraft Engineering and Design.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE.
Having completed my Apprenticeship and time working in the Tool Design Office at BAC, Weybridge, I made a career change when offered a place in the Piping Design Group at Brown and Root (UK) in London, working on the Phillips Petroleum Eldfisk / Edda Field. To date I have been involved in most facets of the Design and Layout for numerous types of plant and facilities, from initial layout through study stage and on into development, client liaison and production of drawings, including Vessel Orientation, Pipe Supports, Isometrics (etc.). I have also enjoyed On Site experience, both in North America at the Arco Refinery in Channelview, Texas and the Carpenter Chemicals Plant in Baytown, Texas and further in Europe on Refineries and Plants, including the Montrose Sea Oil Base in Scotland and as a Supervisor for Esso during Turnaround work at their refinery in Antwerp, Belgium . Primarily involving the identification of Tie-In locations, preparation of field data together with fabrication and demolition documents. Tie-in Work Pack coordination. While working on the Feed Evaluation of the Rospan / Gazprom , Gas Gathering project I was responsible for the Client Liaison, Document gathering and coordination with the work being carried out in the Client’s offices in Sharjah and Dubai. During my time in Spain, I was responsible for the layout and orientation of several major Columns and associated Piping on both the Al-Zour Refinery (CSU) and the Ras Laffin Phase 2 Naphtha Splitter Unit. I have been working with Intergraph PDS for over 18 years and since 2015 with SP3D, having previously completed the Intergraph Training Course in Swindon. I am conversant with design review systems. Further trained on ASD Pipe Router (automated pipe routing system) I have a good knowledge of Spanish and have used it as a working language while in Spain.
