About
I'm a cultural heritage and landscape archaeology researcher with experience in GIS, remote sensing, historical cartography, archival research and spatial data organisation.
I can support clients with georeferencing, vectorisation, map digitisation, spatial documentation, historical landscape analysis, heritage documentation and research-oriented GIS workflows. My doctoral research integrated archaeological, historical, cartographic, environmental and satellite data, including Sentinel-1 SAR and Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery, using QGIS and ESA SNAP to study long-term landscape transformations.
Although my main background is in archaeology and cultural heritage, I am also interested in applying GIS, mapping, data organisation and documentation skills to other fields, including environmental, territorial, educational, research and open-data projects. I enjoy learning new topics and can quickly become engaged with unfamiliar material when the project goals, constraints and expected outputs are clearly defined.
I have experience working with historical maps, cadastral sources, aerial photographs, orthophotos, LiDAR-derived terrain data, archival documents and environmental datasets. I can help turn complex or scattered source material into structured spatial information, organised datasets, interpretative layers and clear written documentation.
My strengths are careful source analysis, problem-solving, attention to detail, critical interpretation of data and the ability to work independently on complex research tasks. I am available for project support involving GIS workflows, map-based research, spatial data cleaning, documentation, report writing and the visual organisation of historical, territorial or research information.

PhD in Cultural Heritage Studies
University of Lecce · Contract
Jan 2021 –
Oct 2025
4 yrs 9 mos
Apulia, Italy
Doctoral research focused on landscape archaeology, GIS, remote sensing, historical cartography and the integration of heterogeneous spatial and historical sources for the study of long-term landscape transformations, including the use of Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellite data for environmental and landscape analysis.

Research Grant Holder – ArchiMaremma Project
University of Siena · Contract
Jul 2020 –
Jul 2022
2 yrs
Tuscany, Italy
Research Grant Holder within the ArchiMaremma project, focused on historical landscapes shaped by land reclamation processes in the Maremma region, in support of a potential UNESCO nomination.
My tasks included archival and bibliographic research, identification and selection of historical sources, cataloguing and organisation of archival materials, analysis of cartographic and documentary evidence, creation of a basic GIS database, and support for project dissemination. I managed the archival-research workflow with a high degree of autonomy, from planning archive visits and selecting relevant source series to organising collected data for analysis and project use. -
Research Grant Holder – TraTTo Project
University of Siena · Contract
Mar 2019 –
Mar 2020
1 yrs
Tuscany, Italy
Research Grant Holder within the TraTTo – Transhumance and Territory in Tuscany project, focused on transhumance routes, pastoral landscapes and long-term territorial transformations in Southern Tuscany.
My work involved collecting, organising and comparing archaeological, historical, cartographic and spatial data within a GIS-based research framework. I contributed to the analysis of relationships between mobility, grazing practices, historical routes, land use and territorial organisation from prehistory to modern times.
I also supported project dissemination through academic writing, including the preparation of a paper and the drafting of conference-related research materials later presented within the project.
