Experience

  • Senior Project Manager/CAD System Administrator Flambeau Inc. · Full-time Apr 1994 – Oct 2014 20 yrs 6 mos Roanoke Rapids, NC, United States Utilized Engineering knowledge and experience to develop low-cost custom and semi-custom designs. Worked with Computer Aided Design Software and customer input to streamline the development of custom and semi-custom products. Defined objectives and timelines for each project. Schedule and track all projects assigned with Cost estimation, Design, Product Drafting, Mold Design and Tool Construction being critical milestones. I was the primary customer contact for all of my projects. I coordinated all samplings of the completed tool with production, make sure they are to the customers specifications, and make sure the proper documentation is in place for production startup.

As System Administrator, I provided technical assistance to users and performed system support duties such as maintaining tape backups and downloading archived files from backup if needed. I also translated file formats for electronic transfer to customers and or vendors via ftp or e-mail.
  • Project Manager Flambeau Inc. · Full-time May 1993 – Mar 1994 10 mos Roanoke Rapids, NC, United States My responsibilities included installing new equipment, implementing the installation of new PLC’s to control the machines or working on new process developments to improve production efficiency. My main accomplishment during this time was to take out existing machine structure and re-install them with a new hydraulic press, process controller and a new hydraulic power unit. I used outside electrical and mechanical fabrication contractors to accomplish this task.
  • Design and Applications Engineer Flambeau Inc. · Full-time Nov 1991 – Apr 1993 1 yrs 5 mos Roanoke Rapids, NC, United States I was responsible for the design of secondary jigs and fixtures for both new and existing designs. Existing fixtures were to be modified, if possible, to allow for more cost-effective manufacturing. New designs such as an in-mold punch would eliminate the need for secondary operations and therefore more cost-effective processing of the end product. I was also responsible for sampling and setting up the process parameters of any new designed tools. This required working closely with manufacturing and production personnel.
  • Process Engineer Alcatel Cable Systems, Inc. · Full-time May 1983 – Oct 1990 7 yrs 5 mos Tarboro, NC, United States I was the process engineer in charge of the twinning and stranding departments. I provided technical assistance and all final authorizations regarding tooling, process parameters, and product quality keeping in mind the customer specifications and requirements.

I was instrumental in the pre connectorized configuration of all cables that required factory installation of 3M or AT&T pre con modules. I played a key role in researching both the cost and application procedures required for the AT&T pre connect modules. Other key areas of involvement during my tenure at the Tarboro facility have been the maintenance of the wire drawing emulsion for coarse and intermediate wire drawing, extruder screw and barrel maintenance program, color meter calibration, Twinning Department Process Engineer, major role in the development of electronic cable RF shield application process and packaging process engineer.
  • Senior Project Manager Transamerica DeLaval · Full-time Sep 1981 – Jan 1983 1 yrs 4 mos Monroe, NC, United States I was the Senior Project Engineer in charge of IMO pumps and accessories for all Navy and Commercial Marine Services. I provided technical assistance for standard and special application requests. I was also responsible for an Automatic Fuel Oil Blending Unit and the DeLaval small auxiliary steam turbines. I corrected the computer program for calculating the steam turbine transmission bearing loads and directions. Transamerica Delaval is a major supplier of positive displacement pumps to the US Navy.
  • Vibrations Systems Engineer General Electric · Full-time Feb 1979 – Sep 1979 7 mos Lynn, MA, United States Responsible for component vibration tests on various aircraft engine hardware and engine mounting systems to ensure safe engine operation on both development and flight engines. I then reported the results to the design engineers both verbally and in a written report. I made recommendations to the design engineers to correct for resonant responses that were found in the engine operating range. Other responsibilities were to write engineering instructions for the application of strain gages and thermocouples to rotating hardware. Some supervision was required for the work performed by the strain gage technicians. I conducted an investigation into upgrading the vibration test equipment that was being used.
  • Associate Test Engineer Newport News Shipbuilding · Full-time Aug 1977 – Jan 1979 1 yrs 5 mos Newport News, VA, United States As an Associate Test Engineer in the Noise and Vibration Department of the Submarine Test Department, I inspected sound isolated systems and conducted vibration tests on rotating machinery associated with the sound isolated systems. Analysis of the vibration data was then conducted using various types of instruments and electronic equipment. I worked side by side with the Navy and shipyard personnel and had to have a secret clearance to access certain areas on the US Navy vessels.
