About
I'm a mechanical design engineer working on pressure-rated hardware for the upstream oil and gas industry. I take designs from concept through to released manufacturing drawings, 3D models plus full GD&T drawing packs that a machine shop can build from without coming back with questions.
Currently at MODUS Oilfield, a Saudi technology company commercializing drilling and well-intervention systems developed at KAUST. My work there covers mechanical design of downhole hardware, the drawing packs that release it to manufacture, and the pressure test setups that qualify it
against operating conditions before it goes to the field.
Before that I spent three years as a research engineer at Cortex
Innovations, designing parts, assemblies, and test rigs for atmospheric water capture and freeze desalination systems, concept to working prototype. I drafted the patent applications on the freeze desalination work, which meant translating my own hardware design into claim language, and published the research in Desalination and Applied Thermal Engineering.
Six peer-reviewed papers, 57 citations.
Earlier I co-founded SUNPave, a walkable solar paving venture. I did the mechanical design, ran the prototyping and manufacturing, and handled procurement. The technology won the Challenge 22 innovation award and was installed at the Al Thumama Stadium precinct for the FIFA World Cup Qatar
2022. I also spent a year at Fab Lab Egypt working across 3D printing, CNC milling, laser cutting, and PCB production, which is where I learned what
actually fails when a design meets a machine.

Published my first peer-reviewed conference paper before graduating. Modeling of a New Crank-Less Rotary Heat Engine Concept for Solar Power Utilization, on a novel solar heat engine that converts reciprocating to rotary motion using unbalanced mass and the Coriolis effect instead of a
crankshaft.
Alongside the degree, I worked as a research assistant at the American University in Cairo's Energy Materials Lab and interned in environmental consultancy, and led the program team for Egyptian Engineering Day, a national engineering summit run by IEEE Young Professionals Egypt.
