About
So how does one explain about yourself without being to pompous. I see myself as an modern Renesaince man, I try to master all things I am intested in. As such I have built a wide range of experinece of the differnt aspects of desing. In other words I have had the previlage to work across print to digital excsecutions, as a Desinger, a Art Director, Head of Studio. Most would say I might be a Jack-of-All-Trades, but I have mastered everything I touch.
As a Designer and Art Director I strive to create communication pieces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional. I’m a strong believer that whatever work I send out into the world needs to be of a quality that I’m proud to put my name onto and call my own. And if it happens to make the world a better place, that’s even better! I have worked on the following international and national brands which helped me to build experience and knowledge: Microsoft, Castle Milk Stout, Tiger Brands VMware, University of Pretoria, SAB, Samsung, Bayport, Momentum, Ovations, WesBank, Nu Metro.
I also have a passion for photography and would love work in an environment where I’ll be able to hone my photography skills in tandem with my design skills. I also have great interest in the digital landscape of design, as I am a UX and UI designer.
I have a great need to improve on this further, as I believe that design is moving into a space where all disciplines of design are intertwining and it is necessary for a designer to be able to move from print to digital to motion. Since this is an industry in which one must be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment at the drop of a hat, staying on top of current trends and new design techniques is very important to me. I’m very inquisitive and eager to learn and even though there is a wealth of information online, I believe that learning from my peers and seniors is of much greater value than any online tutorial.
Furthermore, I also love to help others improve their skills. I have always been a firm believer that you can only let others grow by giving them the space they need to develop their own style and voice, but also be a safety net when they need it. So my leadership style is less formal in order to ensure that everyone fulfils their own role, but I will always stand behind my team and its decisions.
My objective is thus to find a work environment in which I have the chance to grow and learn from others, but also a place where I can be myself and be the kind of designer others will want to learn from. I will always strive to be there to offer a helping hand.
