• Store Opener and Store Opener Rage Distribution (Pty) Ltd · Full-time May 2024 – Feb 2025 9 mos South Africa I was recently working at Rage SA as a draughter and store opener what that in tells is that I am responsible for and preparing plans for all the new stores that are opened at Rage. With the preparation I ensure that the store layouts are up to standard in terms of the spatial plan, marketing opportunity for the store, that they cater for the targets that are set for each individual store and that council submissons are prepared. Furthermore the job comes with the responsibility of ensuring that all the essential furniture items are orded and prepared for the shop fitters to ensure the store has everything for the day that it is opened to operate and trade. Finally within the head office department I assist the other departments with administrative documents and any information that they need on all the stores that we have for Rage SA.
• Freelance Designer Christopher De Bod Designs · Part-time Jun 2022 – Sep 2023 1 yrs 3 mos South Africa I worked as a freelancer for part-time periods on various tasks such as making presentation boards, updating branding and marketing, updating draughting plans and doing research work through Christopher De Bod Designs which is an Interior Design company. Christopher De Bod Designs is a company that specializes in renovation projects and a sustainable approach to Interior Design. To ensure that the approach to design is environmentally friendly through the development of a design concept, I would utilize software programmes, that way there is accuracy, and time efficiency and the amount of waste that could be produced by using paper was minimised.
• Experiential Training 180 Degrees Digital Design and Printing Company · Internship Jul 2022 – Aug 2022 1 mos South Africa Designed and developed eco-conscious in-store visual displays utilizing sustainable materials, showcasing a commitment to environmentally responsible design. I conducted research on innovative sustainable materials, exploring their potential integration into creative design solutions to enhance functionality and reduce environmental impact.
• Job Shadowing John Radford Architects · Internship Apr 2022 – Jun 2022 2 mos South Africa In the duration of my studies, I completed three job shadowing experiences in which I got an opportunity to network and I got to witness the day-to-day in an architectural firm. The exposure I got from this experience was to see how project teams come together and discuss their roles, responsibilities and deadlines to ensure that progress is made throughout their projects. That experience is also supported by site visits in which I got to witness the architect go through all the project points that had to be taken care of in the duration of the week prior to ensure that there was progress in the project. Through John Radford Architects I got to witness two renovation projects at Investec which was a development for a home affairs franchise that could be incorporated into the building however the entrance points were disruptive to the entrance of the company so the project was extended into a development of a structure in a parking space that would not close in space in the main structure. As a result of that project, I also got exposure to the responsibilities of a construction team in terms of how they manage their team where they get instructions and what they do with those instructions. As a part of adopting a site to access, I got to learn about many facets of structure like how buildings are joined together to make a large structure and how a building is extended. I witnessed the importance of reducing waste by ensuring accurate estimations were made for materials and furniture to ensure cost efficiency was secured throughout the project.
