About the job
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical CAD Engineer / Draftsperson with experience in industrial valves, to convert a set of legacy 2D technical drawings and reference photos into accurate 3D models and clean 2D manufacturing drawings.
Our preference is SolidWorks, with full parametric design and proper design intent. Autodesk Inventor is also acceptable.
WHAT THIS IS
The parts are 12 high-pressure boiler valves originally built in 1978 by three European manufacturers - SAPAG (Paris), SERSEG (Lyon) and Sulzer. Design conditions are up to 250 bar and 542 C, water/steam service. We hold the original construction drawings as scans and need them re-documented as a modern, manufacturing-ready CAD package that we will issue to an OEM manufacturer for production.
This is reverse engineering on pressure equipment. Accuracy matters more than speed - a wrong bore or a missed weld preparation becomes a scrap casting.
SCOPE - 12 ITEMS
1. Motorised parallel seat gate valve, DN 5", butt weld
2. Motorised parallel seat gate valve, DN 2" Serie 1500, socket weld
3. Motorised parallel seat gate valve, DN 2" Serie 2500, socket weld
4. Manual parallel seat gate valve, DN 2" Serie 2500, socket weld
5. Manual parallel seat gate valve, DN 2" Serie 1500, socket weld
6. Manual globe valve, DN 2" Serie 1500, socket weld
7. Sulzer E 22 S hydraulic regulating injection valve, butt weld
8. Sulzer E 32 S hydraulic regulating injection valve, butt weld
9. Sulzer S 56 D globe control...

Useful when you price this: items 2 and 5 share the same body, seats and end geometry (one motorised, one handwheel), and items 3 and 4 do the same. The 12 deliverable sets therefore come from roughly 10 unique designs. Please price on that basis rather than quoting 12 from scratch.
DELIVERABLES PER ITEM
- Parametric 3D model of the complete valve assembly, fully constrained, with a feature tree another engineer can pick up and edit
- General arrangement drawing: overall envelope, face-to-face, open/closed heights, dismantling clearance, handwheel or actuator envelope, weight, flow direction, connection data
- Sectional assembly drawing with balloons and a complete bill of materials - part name, quantity, material (original designation plus modern equivalent), and the original manufacturer's part number where shown
- Detail / manufacturing drawings for every machined part: body, bonnet, yoke, stem, disc or wedge, seat rings, gland components, and any non-standard fastener
- Weld preparation detail drawn full size, reproducing the source geometry exactly
- Exports: native (SLDPRT/SLDASM/SLDDRW or IPT/IAM/IDW), STEP AP214, DWG and PDF
DRAWING CONVENTIONS
- Millimetres, one decimal place. First-angle projection.
- General tolerances ISO 2768-mK. Where the source gives an explicit fit, transfer that value verbatim as a limit dimension - do not re-derive it from an ISO fit class. Several source sheets tabulate machining fits for every mating pair; use them as given.
- Surface finish called out on every drawing: Ra 0.4 um on stem packing zones and seating faces, Ra 3.2 um
