Injection Molding CAD Designer — Convert 3D Mesh to STEP Files (DFM Required)
Project Overview
I'm developing a retro-style beverage dispenser product and need an experienced CAD designer to convert an AI-generated 3D mesh into manufacturable parametric CAD files ready for injection molding production.
What You'll Receive
AI-generated 3D mesh file (OBJ format) from Rodin/Tripo
Reference images of the product concept
Target overall dimensions and key functional measurements
Notes on which components should be separate parts
Deliverables
Parametric CAD model rebuilt from the reference mesh (not just a converted mesh)
Individual STEP files for each moldable part (housing, faceplate, drip tray, taps, badge, etc.)
Native CAD source file (SolidWorks .sldprt or Fusion 360 .f3d)
Exploded view rendering showing assembly
Brief DFM report noting any concerns or recommendations
Technical Requirements
Wall thickness: 2–3mm (adjust as appropriate per part)
Proper draft angles on all vertical surfaces (1–2° minimum)
Identify and resolve any undercuts
Logical parting lines on each part
Consider snap-fit or screw boss assembly between components
Material assumption: ABS or ABS/PC blend unless you recommend otherwise
Must-Have Qualifications
Proven injection molding design experience (please share examples)
Expert in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, or Inventor
