About the job
We are building a CAD dataset of 30 SolidWorks parts across three domains — Aerospace (10 parts), Automotive (10 parts), and Healthcare (10 parts). Parts are pre-defined and problem statements with full build directions will be provided to the selected expert.

DELIVERABLES REQUIRED PER PART
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
For each of the 30 parts, you must deliver:
1. SolidWorks Part File (.SLDPRT)
- Well-formed feature tree, no suppressed or unused features
- All sketches fully constrained with sensible constraints (Equal relations, Symmetric, etc. — not manually repeated dimensions)
- No broken references or user-specific paths
2. SolidWorks Drawing (.SLDDRW)
- Manually constructed — NOT auto-generated via "Make Drawing from Part"
- Views deliberately selected and justified
- Full GD&T and MBD annotations placed manually per ASME Y14.5-2018
- General notes block: default tolerances, material, surface finish, edge treatment, standards, units, projection method
3. SolidWorks Macro (.swp)
- Rebuilds the part from scratch, start to finish
- Must run without errors in SolidWorks 2023/24 (Professional or Premium — student license NOT acceptable)
- No external dependencies, user-specific paths, or broken references
- Reliable and repeatable — same result every time
4. Screen Recording (.mp4 with voice-over or subtitles)
- Shows the macro running from start to finish
- Voice-over or on-screen...

- Voice-over or on-screen annotations explaining each step and design decision
5. Reasoning Log (reasoning.json)
- JSON file documenting every annotation placed
- Three categories: Datum selections, Deterministic annotations (DimXpert-reviewed), Engineering Judgment annotations (GD&T)
- Every entry must cite the applicable standard (ASME Y14.5-2018 or ISO equivalent)
- See format sample below
6. External References (.pdf, if used)
- Any standards, datasheets, or references used to make design decisions
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
MBD & GD&T REQUIREMENTS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Step 1 — Datums: Assign Primary (A), Secondary (B) or more datums from real physical features only (machined faces, bore axes, flange surfaces). Default SolidWorks planes (Front/Top/Right) are NOT acceptable as datums — submissions using default planes will be rejected.
Step 2 — Deterministic Annotations: Run DimXpert auto-dimension with your selected datums. Review, refine, and log every auto-generated output. Delete redundant dimensions, correct wrong datum references, and manually add any missing features.
Step 3 — Engineering Judgment Annotations: Manually add GD&T controls that DimXpert cannot generate — flatness, cylindricity, perpendicularity, runout, profile, surface finish. Every callout must be justified by the feature's function and assembly context. Every entry must cite ASME Y14.5-2018.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
AUTOMATIC REJECTION CRITERIA
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Submissions will be automatically rejected if:
✗ Datums are set to default SolidWorks planes
✗ 2D drawing was auto-generated using "Make Drawing from Part"
✗ MBD contains only DimXpert output with no engineering judgment additions
✗ Reasoning log entries have no standard citations
✗ Drawing views are empty or have no documented justification
✗ Tolerances are left at SolidWorks defaults with no engineering rationale
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHAT WE PROVIDE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
- Suggested parts and assemblies in each domain
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
SolidWorks 2023 or 2024 or 2025 — Professional or Premium licence. Student licence is NOT acceptable.
