The Mission
At VuelaNova, we are disrupting the footwear industry by bringing 1:1 bespoke 3D printed shoes to the mass market. We use proprietary AI scanning to create perfect-fit footwear, and we are currently entering a critical product iteration and finalization sprint.
We are looking for a Lead CAD Modeler to take our designs from concept to the runway. This is a 6-month contract with a high probability of transitioning into a full-time role for the right candidate after our showcase at LA Fashion Week in October 2026.
Key Responsibilities
• Advanced CAD Modeling: Execute high-fidelity 3D modeling and rapid iterations of footwear components based on scan data.
• Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM): Ensure all models are manifold, print-ready, and optimized for 3D printing performance.
• Slicing & Print Optimization: Deep-dive into Bambu Studio to optimize print times, customize support structures, and manage variable infill patterns to balance weight and durability.
• Structural Iteration: Work closely with the founders to refine ergonomic fit and aesthetic flow while maintaining mechanical integrity.
Required Skills & Software
• Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Rhino (Grasshopper experience is a major plus), Fusion 360, or Blender (for organic footwear modeling).
• Slicing Expert: Advanced knowledge of Bambu Studio. You must know how to squeeze every second out of a print without sacrificing quality.
