About the job
We are Enhanced Radar, an SF-based startup looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer or Enclosure Designer to design a precision-milled (CNC) aluminum enclosure for our electronics. We have a completed PCB layout and need a professional, two-piece "clamshell" or "tray and lid" housing that is optimized for both aesthetics and manufacturing.
Important: strong preference given to San Francisco-based candidates who can visit our lab to take measurements and discuss the project with us, and to review designs.
Scope of Work
PCB Integration: Import our ECAD (STEP/IDF) files to ensure perfect alignment for connectors, LEDs, and mounting points.
Mechanical Design: Create a 2-piece enclosure optimized for 3-axis or 5-axis CNC milling.
Thermal & EMI: Design internal features for heat dissipation (thermal pillars/pads) and ensure proper grounding/shielding between the two halves.
DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Ensure the design avoids impossible internal radii, minimizes tool changes, and is cost-effective to produce in small-to-medium batches.
Deliverables: Final STEP files, technical 2D drawings with GD&T for the machine shop, and a basic Bill of Materials (BOM) for fasteners.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Onshape.
Deep understanding of CNC aluminum tolerances and finishing (anodizing, bead blasting).
Portfolio examples of previous electronics enclosures (please attach or link).
