About the job
I am looking for a skilled CAD designer with injection molding and DFM experience to refine my existing non-professional, first-pass design of a simple six-part slide viewer.
The intended materials are ABS and polycarbonate, so experience designing for these materials and their specific manufacturing constraints is essential.
Primary goals:
- Recreate the parts in your CAD system of choice (FreeCAD source files with full parametric history will be provided)
- Apply proper DFM principles for injection molding (draft, wall thickness, fillets, ribs, parting considerations, etc.)
- Identify and explicitly call out any features that should change to improve manufacturability, tooling simplicity, or cost
- Ensure all parts assemble correctly after DFM adjustments
This is not a concept design task — the intent is to prepare the design for injection molding and tooling review.
I’ve attached photos of a commercially available product in the same category to illustrate the general concept and form factor only. This is provided for context, not as a design to copy.
