About the job
The company I work for is building a new piece of heavy industrial equipment and are looking for a mechanical design expert to help us finalize the entire outer body enclosure. We've already built a working prototype, but we're now preparing for production and want to refine the design with a focus on manufacturability, durability, and ease of access for servicing.
The machine includes an engine, hydraulic components, tanks, and electrical enclosures. We're seeking a designer with experience in large machine enclosures, sheet metal design, and industrial-grade hardware (hinges, latches, etc.).
Scope of Work:
- Review our existing 3D assembly
- Design a production-ready enclosure that:
- Covers the rear and side sections of the machine
- Includes access hatches, doors, and bolt-on panels
- Incorporates proper hinges, latches, and mounting points
- Accommodates external electrical enclosures and service areas
- Considers ventilation and daily maintenance access
- Provide CAD files and manufacturing-ready drawings
- Suggest hardware (hinges/latches) that are reliable, available, and compatible
Deliverables:
- Finalized 3D models (SolidWorks, Inventor, or Fusion 360 preferred)
- 2D fabrication drawings (flat patterns, DXFs)
- BOM with suggested materials and hardware (hinges, latches, handles, etc.)
- Exploded view or assembly documentation (optional but preferred)
