About the job
I’m looking for a mechanical designer in Thailand to help me develop a custom off-road camping trailer and produce the CAD models and fabrication drawings needed to build it.
The concept is a trailer that can carry one ATV/four-wheeler while also incorporating:
• A rooftop tent and supporting structure.
• Suspension suitable for off-road use.
• Storage for camping equipment and amenities.
• Water storage.
• Battery/electrical equipment and optional generator storage.
• Loading ramps and suitable tie-down points.
I’m a semi-retired engineering and technology executive with hands-on welding and metal-fabrication experience. I intend to build the trailer myself in the United States, so I’m looking for practical mechanical-design help—not just a rendering or someone to trace a finished concept. I would provide the ATV dimensions, equipment requirements, initial sketches, and fabrication preferences, and work with you on the design.
Ideally, the completed package would include:
• Editable 3D models and assembly files.
• Dimensioned fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Material specifications, cut lists, and a bill of materials.
• DXF files for any laser- or plasma-cut parts.
• Chassis, drawbar, suspension-mounting, and rooftop-tent support details.
• Weight-distribution assessment and appropriate structural calculations, either by you or an identified engineering partner.
Autodesk Fusion would be my preference so I can work with the design afterward, but I’m open t...

Autodesk Fusion would be my preference so I can work with the design afterward, but I’m open to discussing your preferred CAD platform.
Would this project fit your experience and interests? If so, please share examples of relevant work—particularly trailers, vehicle components, welded steel structures, or equipment that has actually been fabricated—and let me know:
• Which portions of the design and engineering you can handle.
• Your availability and typical pricing.
• Whether we could begin with a small paid concept/layout phase.
• Whether I would receive the native editable files and ownership rights to modify and manufacture the design.
I’m currently in Thailand and would be interested in meeting if practical, although working remotely is fine.
Thank you,
Chay
