Description:
We require an update of our sunglass line. Our products are specifically engineered to be worn over prescription glasses. These products are commonly referred to as fitover and/or overx glasses.
Wants:
A 3D realistic rendering of the design concept. Attached is a series of pictures showing one of our models. This design has been in circulation for over 6 years. We want a complete modernization of the overall look and feel.
Don't Wants:
I do not need CAD files at this point. All we need to review is series of 3D models looking as realistic as possible. The glasses must be shown from multiple angles but it is mandatory that the angles include a front on, side profile and 3/4 profile.
Ask for Sample:
The look and feel is the most important aspect at this point. The chosen design will then be refined and engineered for function.
Company Logo:
Yes
Software:
  1. Simple renderings in any format. (PDF etc.) so that the submissions can be reviewed easily by our product management and executive selection team.

Live Eyewear,
I appreciate that the designs you have received for this contest may not be what you have had in mind, but just from the designers point of view there was over 73 submissions and 17 designers which was a lot of effort on our part and after the contest finished there was no feedback whatsoever nor was there just a statement to say that the designs did not meet your standards or reflect your vision.
I'm sure you could appreciate how frustrating this is for a designer when there is no sign of closure on a project especially when you consider the time spent collectively on your contest.
I mean this in the most respectful manner possible and I hope you had all the success you wished for in ascertaining the design that truly reflected your particular vision of your future product, however it's just common courtesy to return the effort on our part by explaining why you were dissatisfied or officiating the end of project with a quick comment.
This has advantages, it shows us that you take your company's reputation very seriously and it also gives us the feedback we require to raise our standards to meet your requirements in any future case.

Thank you for your time,

Kind Regards

Eric J Brennan

Dear sir,
Apart from making the contest blind, which is rather fair for the participants, we would like to suggest that you could probably make a payment prior, as most of the participants have spent (and will spend) a serious amount of time on it.

Waiting for your response.
Thank you,
aad

Live Eyewear,
I quote good suggestion from Aaron in other project:

"I would like to make a couple of suggestions: Could you make your entry Blind? I believe your chances of receiving more designs increases. Designers like myself are more likely to wait till the end date to submit designs because design ideas are easily stolen when others are able to see the entries. We may spend many hours working on these projects and don't want others to steal our ideas. We also like to see the ratings, this helps us to see if we are on the right track with your product. I feel I have a unique concept for your product, but unless it's a blind contest, I won't submit it until the end date and therefore I will not be able to be rated to see if maybe I should submit another design...just my thoughts...Thanks!"

Hope this will make better competition atmosphere
Thanks,
Saaddin

Amil,

Your design is not a fitover sunglass. It is a conventional sunglass. It has no side shields. No protection. Will not fit over prescription glasses. It is exactly the opposite of what we have requested.

ckhurly,

The front lenses need to be removable for replacement only. Exactly like a regular sunglass. If a lens is damages it should be able to be removed and replaced into the frame cavity.

Hello Zulfadzryl,

Your designs aren't what we're looking for. They are very reminiscent of products from the early 1990's.
We need designs for a 2015 model that completely supersedes current and past models. We are looking for a minimalist look much like the Apple design family of products. There are 100's of pictures of our current models on our website. Go to the online store. You can see the glasses from other angles. There are thousands of pictures of our Cocoons on the internet from many different angles. We want the same function (complete protection from above, below and the sides but with a new look.

Thanks

Hi Live Eyeware,

Please give us some feedback's on this contest.
Your guidance will helped me and all other designers for the future submission.
As i'v submitted, it is merely my interpretations of understanding.

The 3D model in your website can only turn left-right but not downward-upward (Not an orbital model)
as below link for pictorial explanation.

I hope with my inputs and your replying comment will help us submitting a proper designs.

Thank you in advance.

When you request that the front lenses must be removable, do you mean in terms of replacement or for temporarily moving the lenses (i.e. the styles with the flip up lenses)?

China Accelerator Program
I am in search of a business partner to bring to Shanghai, China with myself to participate in the China Accelerator Program. I applied to the program with an idea to print 3D press on nails. They loved the idea and my prototypes. They have accepted me into the program, pending that I find someone to help with the technical side of things, designing, printing and web-developement. The China Accelerator program provides 16K in funding to get the business of the ground, which in return they ask for 6% of the business. The program is run by Canadians and Americans, therefor it is well structured and easy to work with the mentors.
Sustainable TOP CAP packaging for glass containers
Packing glass-containers for transportation is usually done palletized by using plastic layer pads in-between the glass containers and on top by using a cover with is called TOP CAP. Until now the TOP CAP which is used almost only is made from cardboard. As the actual cardboard-TOP-CAP is a one-time-use packing, we are looking for an alternative design to replace this cardboard TOP CAP by a • Reusable • Hygienic Cleanable by an industrial process • Recyclable • Robust and sustainable alternative.
Hotel
I need to make a project for architectural presentations. It will be a big hotel with a restaurant downstairs. You need to make the exterior and to fit it into a high backdrop (in the file you'll find the perfect example) You also need to simulate the building schematically, which is located near the hotel which doesn't require precise detailing, just need to do as the picture which you will find in the files. In the background should see the intersection. The view of the building I pointed out. The answers to all the questions you can find in the files, there all is described very detailed. As the project is big enough and high fees, I wish it was the work of a team of 3D artists. I need to get the final version of the project on 14 November in the evening. (Sweden time)
Connection/Plug-In system
Description: We are looking for a design of a connection/plug-in system. The system should consist of two main components; 1. The “Base” Which will be mounted on a surface (e.g. wall). 2. The “Contra-Base” The Contra-Base is an adaptor (to which an accessory is attached - e.g. a spot) to click/snap/slide onto the Base. Note: Accessories could weigh up to 1 kg (possibly in a bumpy environment), which needs to be taken into consideration into the design of the “Base” as well as the “Contra-Base” The Base: 1. Should preferably have a round shape with a diameter of approximately 7 cm and be as low in height as possible, without interfering with the design requirements. 2. Will be connected to a 12 volt power point • The 12 volt wire comes either from behind (through the wall) or from a side (on the wall) 3. Wires should be easily connected to the bottom of the Base. • The design should take into account easy attachment of the 12 volt wire to the Base by the user. • Also in case the wire is connected from the side of the Base there should be an opening / gate. 4. Will be fixed to a surface using screws. • The design should take into account easy accessibility for the user when mounting on surface. 5. Will pass 12 volt current to the Contra-Base once the Contra-Base is fixed onto the Base through a solution that is: • Low tech • Full proof The Contra-Base: 1. Should click/snap/slide/connect (or other) onto the Base; • Once attached on the Base, the Contra-Base should only be able to disconnect through manual intervention; • The locking mechanism should be very solid and as low-tech and full-proof as possible; • Once locked, the Contra-Base should not be able to turn on the Base, however the placement of the Contra-Base should not be limited by a (single) defined position; • Release mechanism should not be by force, but by intervention. Again, the solution should be as low-tech and full-proof as possible. 2. Should receive the 12 volt current from the Base (see “Base” #5.) and forward it to the accessory (e.g. spot) mounted on the Contra-Base. Requirements: 1. All solutions need to be manufacturable and preferably seamless integrated if possible; 2. To be manufactured using injection moulding with minimal mould complexity; 3. The files should be of a professional quality (including STEP files) so they can be handed over to an Injection Moulding company; 4. Non injection components should be minimal and easily available in the market or easily manufacturable; 5. Modern, minimalistic but high quality look & feel is an absolute must. Also when the Contra-Base is not attached to the Base, the Base should still look good and not technical. Please provide High Quality rendering views + preferably .U3D files during the contest. STEP files required on completion We will award the 1st price ($1500) to the best overall idea that meets – or only needs minor polish to meet – all the requirements We will award a 2nd price ($500) for the best innovative idea for the easy connection solution of the 12 volt wiring to the “Base”. • Needs to be integrated into the design of the “Base”, as low tech as possible and without any complex (expensive) external components. We will award the 3rd price ($500) to the best innovative idea for the 12 volt current transfer solution from “Base” to “Contra-Base” • Needs to be integrated into the design of the “Base” and the “Contra-Base”, as low tech as possible and without any complex (expensive) external components. Attachments: Whiteboard screenshots: 1. Potential Wiring situations; 2. Electrical wire connection to the “Base”; 3. Fixation of “Base” to wall; 4. Fixation of “Contra-Base” to “Base”.
Robot Lawn Mower
I am looking for the industrial design of a robot lawn mower. I would like a product that looks distinctive. There are two main components, a robot and a base station. I imagine the robot to be around 12" x 12" x 8". The robot can dock with the base station. I like the idea of a white, orange, or black design, with the simple robot's logo image: http://www.simplerobots.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/logo_inline.png Here are some robot mowers currently on the market: http://www.husqvarna.com/us/products/robotic-mowers/husqvarna-robotic-mowers-for-homeowners/ http://robomow.com/en-GB/product-category/mowers/ https://www.deere.com/en_INT/products/equipment/autonomous_mower/tango_e5/tango_e5.page I've attached an idea I had of what this may look like, but I'm sure you can do better. I will award the 1st place price ($1500) to the best overall idea that meets or only needs minor polish to meet all the requirements. I will award the 2nd place price ($500) to the best idea from an innovative and distinctiveness standpoint regardless of whether it meets the requirements. I will try to provide feedback as regularly as possible. I recommend starting with low fidelity ideas and getting feedback before refining them. Towards the end of the contest, I will run a survey with around 100 users. I would prefer SolidWorks 2015, but am willing to deal with another format for a great design or designer. This contest will be short. I understand if the final designs are a little rough as I expect to continue refining them (ideally with your help).
