Description:
We are looking for sleek or a very sexy casing for Home automation device that can add beauty to your house along with making your day to day life easy. We want out of the box thinking, not just any enclosure.
The logo will be Maestro, the designer can create it with no limitation for your imaginations.
Attached is a pdf file with full requirements and description.
Wants:
Our evaluation will depend on the case looking in addition to ease of manufacture.
No to mention that all designs must fit all the boards of the product.
Don't Wants:
We don't want a casing that can not be manufactured, or 3D printed.
Casing not to be more than 3 pieces.
As the product may end up being mass produced the design should be kept simple... no need for multiple materials or moving parts etc.

Dear All Designers,
Thank you all for the wonderful designs that you created that some of them are out of the box.
We extended the contest to July 1, so that designers that have 4 stars designs could fine tune their designs to include the boards and camera in there design. At the end we need a design that fits our needs.

Hi Mcluka,

We have a 3D file link for board 1. We will see if we can generate mechanical model for board 2 but it has the same dimensions as board 1.
All the connectors are on board 1's 3D model, there is no connector for exposing outside from board 2. There is an additional push switch and power jack, which can go anywhere on the casing and we will bring wires to boards.
May be this link will help in camera board model.

Thanks

I would love to participate in this challenge but to be honest it is hard to design something with no 3D specified external dimensions and the mounting dimensions. It would be really handy if you had technical documentation where your electrical components would be fully assembled so you could use the step/iges file and model out of it. It would be good to have for all 3 of your types the step/iges files of your fully assembled electrical components so we would be able to modify the design so that it would fit too all three types. Regards

P.S. It is hard and highly impractical to search in your attached files where exactly are the sockets, where is the camera mounted, how many plugs, what type of plugs etc. A lot of time consuption just to get to know your electrical components....

Hi Jnatzic,
Thanks for your effort. Few comments:
- If you look at the over all dimensions we provided, SD card should totally be inside the casing with just an open slot to take it out or replace it if required. I guess you just based on Raspberry Pi board t this stage.
- Also there would be a WiFi USB dongle plugged into the USB connector near RJ45/ethernet connector and it should be totally within the casing if we use internal antenna, for the dimensions we provided. For external antenna, just connector would be outside with an option to open the hole and bring connector. By default casing would be closed at this end.
-If this casing is sitting on a table or even at a wall Raspberry Pi seems to be on the top side of the RF board with all the antennas on the board underneath, concern is that it will effect the RF range.
- With totally circular shape the connectors on the side of Raspberry Pi are too far inside the casing for access in future. theses should be near the edge of the casing for easy opening in future. May be you need to play with the shape here from the side
- If the product is sitting on the table , camera seems to be looking at 45 to 60 degrees towards the ceiling, which will not be able to view the room.
Please feel free to ask questions.
Thanks

The two boards are stacked on each other and their dimensions as one block is 13.3cm(L) x 6cm (W) x 6cm (H) .
We also have the camera board that is connected to the other two boards by a flex, the dimension of the camera board is 25 x 24 x 9 mm.
You can find more explanation with pictures on the project file 'Product case-8.pdf'.
I did not understand what 'base diameter' you are asking about, but if you are talking about the pan and tilt of the camera so we leave it for your imagination.

Dear sir, do you have more dimensions for the chip boards and the base diameter, some height or thickness where to mount the casing later on? Just want to make sure that your boards will fit in what i will be designing.

Thank you

You can use other software, given that you will provide the project with 3 types of formats one of them is 'step/stp', 'ipt/iam', and 'stl'. So that we can later modify if needed.
