Contest Ended, Winner(s) have been selected.
Description:
we are looking to design a casing that will hold a BLE chip and NFC tag the product will be adhered to or clamped onto the likes of entrances to malls, bus stops , inside of taxi cabs, on board trains and buses and adhered to ATM machines.
Wants:
we are looking for a striking design that will draw people to the device. clear channel currently have a concept here http://www.clearchannel.ie/products/Connect-Mobile-Platform

this does not have a BLE chip inside but does have NFC and QR. This is a perfect example of a product that is durable and cannot be tampered with easily such as being pulled off or stolen

I want to have the files sent to me so that we can print here at a local 3d printers so all the files i need to do this are required

The device will need to accessible at the back , front or side so that battery can be changed in BLE chip (it is a coin battery)
Don't Wants:
i don't want a product that is not durable
Ask for Sample:
yes
Software:
  1. .VRML (x.wrl) .STL (astl, ast) .IGES .3DS .rvt .dgn .skp .3dm .Ply .Obj .Fbx
Additional Information
* I would like to get a concept ready without the integration of the BLE chip, this means that i want our designer to design an updated version of the clear channel concept http://www.clearchannel.ie/products/Connect-Mobile-Platform

It doesn't have to be the same shape all it needs to have is:

1. an NFC tap here
2. a qr code with "add to apple passbook & "add to google wallet icons
3. the centre piece to allow people read about what this device will do for them

Lets get this done today , i want and need to print off a demo of the design

Hi. It's just a promo design of your device, i'll upgrade it later.
BLE chip will insert through the side hole (which is covered by a lid) into housing and fall down, so nobody will can extract it out without special (but very simple) instrument:
http://jpeg2.net/i/G0k06060G259u917.png
NFC, QR codes, solar battery and information sticker are included.
Dimensions: 110x35x14mm.
If you like this idea, let me know to i continue upgrading of this project.
Thank you.

I made thinner version of my previous design, 15x5x0.9 cm, and I made new smaller case 6x6x0.9 cm. On smaller design I used smaller NFC sticker 19x19mm from the same site you posted in competition brief. Both cases are made for BLE chip 5mm thick and could be 1 mm thinner if we made chip 4 mm. I hope you'll be satisfied with this models. I'm sending you and .3ds and .OBJ files with both models inside.

there may also be an opportunity to incorporate a small solar panel on front to power the 3v BLE chip for the outdoor unit

in terms of the NFC chip we are simply for prototype using an NFC sticker http://rapidnfc.com/item/182/on_metal_nfc_tags_tab_tap_here_ntag203

This will be adhered to the face of the plate, so the only integration into the backside of the plate will be the BLE chip. Engineers will need a way to replace the battery in this chip so the challenge here is how do we make something that can't be tampered with but can be opened by staff

The ble chip is 2 inch x 2 inch square and 1 inch in thickness so it's not the size of a SIM card but of course could be slid in like a SIM card

Yes for the casing which will incorporate the BLE chip and battery the NFC chip , the front facing panel will need to have color print showing the different call to actions

you want only the casing design right?

The most important thing for this product is how it is going to be adhered to a fixed object. If you think about this being fixed to a bus stop or an ATM machine it needs to be clear to a passer by that may want to break it or steal it that it is futile.

There will also be situations where this product will be inside , such as inside an Uber cab or on board a bus or train so think about both scenarios .

It may also be good to think about landscape and portrait versions.

The info contained all the front will need to be legible

The NFC section will need to have a Call to action the same as clear channels (tap your device) the QR code will have add to Apple Passbook or Google Wallet

Power SPDT Relay implemented with MOSFETS
I am currently using the following relay in a product: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/te-connectivity-potter-brumfield-relays/RT424024/PB969-ND/1095293 It is a DPDT, non-latching relay rated for 8A switching, and a 24Vdc coil voltage. The problem: The "clicking sound." This is for a home audio application, so we need it to be silent. I am looking for a silent version, using MOSFETS for example, built onto a daughter board (PCB) with the same footprint and pin-out as the relay. Note - I only need SPDT capability (I tie the two poles of the DPDT relay via on the board that the relay is installed onto). One side of the relay coil (pin 1) is always tied to 24V. And the other side is either set to 24V or GND via this chip: http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en?keywords=296-19046-5-ND (which is controlled by a PIC micro) Requirements: - An electrical schematic of the new design - A BOM of all the parts required - Gerbers for the PCB daughter board - Same footprint and pin-out as the RT424024 relay. Note, for this SPDT version, the following pins will be tied together (12 & 22, 11 & 21, 14 & 24). They are already tied together on the PCB that the relay currently is soldered to. - Same 24Vdc "coil voltage" (pin 1 always tied to 24Vdc, and pin 2 is controlled externally to be 24Vdc or GND via the external chip mentioned above). - When the relay is not activated, pins 12 & 22 are connected to pins 11 & 21). When the relay is activated, pins 11 & 21 are connected to pins 14 & 24. - Use high current MOSFETs (the lower the turn on resistance, the better! Should be able to handle > 25 Amps continuously (ideally > 50 Amps continuously). - Must have full protection from ESD / over-voltage on every pin. - There must NOT be 'cross-conduction' of the pins. - Must be very reliable - Must be silent switching - Must be the same footprint and pinout as the relay that it is replacing (Mentioned above). Max. height is > 1 inch (we are only limited by the footprint, not the height). - Layout software can be whatever you want as long as I can get the PCB gerbers to send to my PCB house. - BOM should be in a spreadsheet (excel) - Electrical schematic can be in PDF
