Yes Solidworks is fine. Whatever you prefer to work with.

Hi, is only using Autocad for the 3D modeling of the product accepted? I am a product designer and use Solidworks for my designs because it gives me freedom, accuracy, and compatibility with other software. So, I'm wondering if I can participate in this contest using Solidworks instead.

We want one lockable draw but other storage areas can be unlocked. Does that answer your question?

Is it ok to change things in its functionality? like changing locking mechanism? or you just want to change the look?

Scenic Fabrication Technician – SketchUp to Build Files
We are a fabrication and installation team producing real-world scenic set pieces, arches, and experiential structures. We are not looking for design concepts. We are looking for technical specialists who can take existing SketchUp models and visual references and convert them into precise, build-ready fabrication files for carpenters and CNC production. You will be working from provided assets (SketchUp file + reference images) and translating them into a complete, usable fabrication package. This includes: Breaking models into individual buildable components Accounting for material thickness and real-world constraints Designing practical joinery and connection methods Producing clean DXF files for CNC cutting Creating clear, dimensioned shop drawings Your work should allow a fabrication team to build the structure without interpretation or redesign. Project Context The structures are: Large-scale scenic pieces (arches, frames, installations) Built from wood and/or sheet goods Fabricated using CNC + traditional carpentry Installed on-site, often under time constraints This means your files must reflect: Structural logic Assembly sequence Transport considerations What Success Looks Like A successful submission results in: A clean set of files a CNC operator can cut immediately A carpenter being able to assemble the structure step-by-step No missing dimensions, guesswork, or ambiguity Important This is a translation and fabrication problem, not a design exercise. If your submission focuses on visual modeling instead of build logic, it will not be considered. Opportunity We are actively looking for ongoing collaboration with the right technician for future fabrication projects.
Built-ins flanking mantel
I'd like to build 'built-in' bookshelves/bookcase units to flank my fireplace mantel. The mantel is original to the house (1924) and I'd like to preserve the design and carry over a few elements into the new units. 1) Primary objective/requirement is for the units to blend in with the mantel , or otherwise compliment it. I want the wall to be a focal point of the room. 2) I'm open to incorporating new design elements in the bookcases/bookshelves, provided it works with elements of the mantel design. 3) id like to pick up at least one of the characteristic elements of the mantel (j-curve on outside or the pillar detail just under the mantel. 4) will consider various heights/styles for the units. Design considerations might include bookcase units with a top/surface matching the height of the mantel, a bookcase/shelve unit with a counter/open shelf typical counter height, or a floor-to-ceiling (or lower) shelving unit w lower cabinets.
