There aren’t many inventions that have impacted the world as much as the clock. The modern industrial capitalist culture that has spread across the whole world would be unimaginable without precise and accurate timekeeping devices. It’s literally changed the way we think of time! Plus, there’s really nothing quite as stylish as a nice watch. Even today, when almost everyone is carrying around an even more accurate timepiece called a smartphone, watches are an important accessory. They might not be as important for actually keeping track of time as they once were, but fashion is important, too! And for some reason, watches sure do look nice. Here’s a beautiful Solidworks design of a multi-functional watch. Back in the days before smartwatches, the smartest watches around were the ones that included a compass, a calendar, an altimeter, and a tachymeter. This fully-loaded watch has the additional easter egg of a somewhat mysterious J.R.R Tolkien emblem. A classic, functional watch design.

2. Self Winding Watch Patent by Glenn Freiman

This entry is a little different. This image is an excerpt from a patent drawing. It represents a design for a self-winding watch. A neat thing to see for horologists and anyone else that’s interested watch design.

Back to the more aesthetically oriented designs, here’s a colorful assortment of sleek minimalist watches that contrast nicely with the heftier feature-loaded design up above. No less classy for its lack of extra gizmos and gadgets, this watch style is more for those who value a slim profile and a simple but striking image. And there’s a choice of colors, too!
