Vertical Ammonia (R-717) Liquid Separator VLS-4810, 48 in x 10 ft, ASME VIII Div. 1 Recirculator Vessel
Vertical low-side liquid separator (recirculator vessel) for an industrial ammonia (R-717) pumped liquid recirculation system. The wet suction return from the evaporators enters on the side, liquid drops out by gravity, dry gas leaves through the top to the compressors and the liquid collects in the bottom for the recirculation pumps. Sized for 300 TR (1055 kW) at -20 °F with 4:1 recirculation.
Design features:
- 48 in OD x 10 ft T/T shell, 2:1 semi-elliptical heads, SA-516-70N 7/16 in, internal volume 1025 gal (3.88 m³)
- ASME BPVC Section VIII Div. 1, U-stamped; MAWP 250 psig at 250 °F, full vacuum, MDMT -50 °F; hydrotest 325 psig
- Gravity separation without mesh pad: upward gas velocity 160 ft/min, 86 % of the Souders-Brown limit
- Class 300 RF WN nozzles (ASME B16.5): 10 in wet suction inlet with internal diverter, 10 in dry gas outlet, 2 x 4 in pump suction outlets with vortex breakers, 2 in liquid makeup, pump return and vent connections
- Level column 3 in Sch 80 with capacitance level probe (4-20 mA), 4 frost-proof sight glasses and high-level float switch
- Dual relief valve station with 3-way valve on the top head (ANSI/IIAR 2)
- 8 in oil pot with quick-closing spring-loaded drain valve
- Elevated on 4 x 6 in Sch 40 pipe legs with reinforcing pads and anchor base plates; bottom tangent line 2800 mm above floor to give the pumps suction head
- Shipped with blind flanges and a nitrogen holding charge; insulation by others
- Overall height approx. 6.5 m
Included: general arrangement drawing with nozzle schedule, vessel weldment drawing, level column and relief station drawing, oil pot assembly drawing with bills of material, rendered views and a STEP model of the assembly. Third angle projection.
