Side-Draw Trailer Hopper for Bulk Material Handling
This project involved the mechanical design and 3D development of a side-draw trailer hopper engineered for the efficient transportation and controlled discharge of bulk materials. The design focused on maximizing payload capacity while ensuring structural integrity, operational reliability, and ease of manufacturing.
The trailer was modeled entirely in SolidWorks using a parametric design approach, allowing efficient design modifications and optimization throughout the development process. Special attention was given to the hopper geometry, chassis structure, suspension mounting, and discharge mechanism to provide smooth material flow and long-term durability under demanding operating conditions.
Design considerations included weight optimization, welded structural fabrication, accessibility for maintenance, and compatibility with standard manufacturing processes. The assembly was developed to facilitate fabrication, assembly, and future maintenance while maintaining high structural performance.
