Robotic welding torch mount and tool interface
Welding torch mount and tool-side interface for a collaborative robot wrist, modelled in Fusion 360.
The mount carries a MIG torch off the robot flange and has to hold the torch tip repeatable in position through the heat, spatter and vibration of live welding, while staying light enough not to eat into the arm's payload. Design points: a bolted flange interface that locates on the wrist's own dowel pattern rather than on the bolts, a stiff bracket section chosen to keep the first bending mode well clear of the arm's motion frequencies, clearance for the torch liner and gas hose so the bundle is not pinched through the wrist's rotation, and a slip plane that lets the torch give way instead of bending the arm on a collision.
Built for manufacture: machined from 6061 with tolerances applied only on the locating features, the rest left open so it can be cut on a 3-axis machine without special fixturing.
