Preform Inspection System for a High-Speed Bottling Line

Gravity-fed mechanical inspector that rejects oval PET preforms before they reach a 25,200 bottles/hour blow molder, preventing emergency stops and production losses. Developed for a major food and beverage manufacturer Reverse-engineered an undocumented existing unit from on-site measurements Redesigned it with a height-adjustment mechanism so one design fits multiple preform formats and machines Validated the shaft and wheel with static FEA (minimum safety factor of 22) and a pneumatic assist turbine with CFD in SolidWorks Prepared manufacturing drawings and coordinated fabrication with an external machine shop through design-for-manufacturing reviews Tools: SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, Flow Simulation
