Parametric Two-Part CAD Component
Self-initiated demonstration of a parameter-driven CAD workflow for a nested core and shell. This is synthetic geometry, not a client project.
The model was created in CadQuery/Python in two sizes (10 mm and 15 mm diameter) and exported as STEP, STL and OBJ/MTL. The image shows the actual exported 10 mm geometry, assembled and exploded; the radial gap is 0.50 mm.
Completed checks: STEP re-import produced two valid solids; CAD Boolean intersection was zero; STL meshes passed closed-edge checks after degenerate export triangles were removed. OBJ indices, winding and material assignments were checked. The surface meshes contain 90–94% quadrilaterals. UV polygon-interior checks found no overlaps.
This demonstrates a reproducible modelling and export-checking workflow. It does not establish manufacturing readiness, physical fit, printing tolerances or arbitrary imported-mesh retopology. UV/material data were checked by parsing files, not through a texture-painting application.
Developed with AI-assisted Python coding; the reported checks were run on the exported files. A reproducible source package with the generator, checked exports, dependencies and usage notes is available on request.
