Modular Sofa — Engineering Design for Serial Production

Engineering development of a modular sofa designed for serial production and intensive daily use. The sofa consists of six independent interconnectable modules, allowing different configurations and making the system scalable and adaptable to different layouts. The structural frame was developed from 15 mm moisture-resistant plywood using CNC-cut slot-and-tab connections to improve rigidity, assembly accuracy and repeatability in production. The modules are connected using dedicated metal locking brackets. The project included detailed 3D modeling, development of the internal frame and connection system, production-oriented design, CNC preparation, technical documentation, and an augmented reality model for evaluating the sofa in the actual interior. The design was subsequently manufactured and installed, allowing the engineering solution to be verified in the completed product.
