Long Beach Rose Window | Heritage Survey & Terracotta CAD

From a measured historic detail to a practical architectural model. I surveyed this rose window at First Congregational Church of Long Beach, California, in summer 2019 and modelled the replacement architectural terracotta. My contribution included measured survey work, detailed 3D modelling, shop tickets and renderings for the replacement terracotta. The model demonstrates intricate tracery, moulded profiles, individual unit divisions and the relationship between decorative detail and manufacture. It is an example of my approach to turning site measurements into clear CAD information for restoration teams and manufacturers. Presentation note: the stained-glass appearance is a later illustrative reconstruction. It is not an exact conservation record of the glazing. The original terracotta model geometry is retained.
