hydram-pump-assembly

For my hydram project, I designed a hydraulic ram pump—a self-sustaining water pumping system that operates entirely without electricity or external fuel. By leveraging fluid mechanics, I engineered the system to harness the kinetic energy of a flowing water source, utilizing the **water hammer effect** to create sudden pressure spikes when a waste valve snaps shut. I configured the pressure chamber to capture these waves, allowing the pump to automatically lift a portion of the water to a storage tank at a much higher elevation. Ultimately, I delivered a low-cost, durable design capable of operating continuous $24/7$ irrigation for off-grid communities.
