Historic Café Furniture — Engineering Design & Space Planning
Furniture engineering and 3D space planning for the historic Pyshechnaya café in St. Petersburg, operating since 1958.
The project included recreating standing tables from an archival Soviet-era photograph, developing their production-ready construction, creating accurate 3D models of both café halls from site measurements, and planning the furniture layout and guest seating. Legendary Café in St. Petersburg.pdf
The custom standing tables were engineered with a 15 mm plywood internal frame, veneered MDF cladding and acrylic-stone elements. A slot-and-tab construction system was developed to simplify manufacturing, reduce assembly errors and enable quick on-site installation. The design was prepared for serial production. The project also included furniture quantity planning, modifications to the existing bar counter, visualization, contractor selection, production support and quality control during fabrication. Ten custom tables were manufactured and installed according to the developed design.
