Dual-Speed Electric Brush Cutter – SOLIDWORKS Assembly, Gear Train & Drawings
University design project: a complete electric brush cutter designed in SOLIDWORKS with a two-speed gearbox. A high-torque setting handles thick growth and a high-speed default handles grass.
What's in it:
- 23-part SOLIDWORKS assembly with mates and an exploded view
- Stage 1: 16T/60T spur pair (3.75:1 reduction); stage 2: planetary set with 30T sun, 15T planets and a fixed 60T ring
- Electromagnetic clutch with return spring to switch between speeds
- Two-piece motor housing surface-modelled for injection moulding
- Torque and RPM calculated through each stage
- Fully dimensioned part drawings, an exploded assembly drawing and a bill of materials
- Assembly and exploded-view animations (videos attached)
Off-the-shelf parts were modelled from photos and measured with a Vernier caliper.
