A dog house is a secondary plastic feature used in automotive interior and exterior trim parts to provide mounting support for screws, clips, or locators without affecting the visible (Class-A) surface. It is designed as an offset structure connected to the main component through ribs.
This dog house was designed and developed in CATIA V5 following standard plastic part design guidelines. The feature maintains a controlled offset from the Class-A surface to prevent sink marks and surface read-through. Proper draft angles were applied to ensure smooth tool ejection during injection molding.
