Reverse engineered a fiberglass/composite automotive body panel from an STL scan and converted the irregular scanned geometry into a refined, editable CAD model. The original scan contained surface bumps, rough areas, imperfections, and complex curvature, requiring extensive surface reconstruction and refinement while preserving the original geometry. The scanned mesh was used as the reference to rebuild the exterior surface. After reconstruction, the surface was refined to remove visible irregularities and improve continuity. Zebra analysis and deviation analysis were performed to evaluate surface quality and identify areas requiring further refinement. The reconstructed geometry was subsequently converted into a solid CAD body, given the required thickness, and prepared for the CNC machining stage. The completed model provides a controlled CAD representation of the original composite component for manufacturing and further engineering development.
