Structural Cable Tower with Weldment Design
This project involved the design and development of a robust structural cable tower assembly intended for commercial fitness equipment. The objective was to create a durable, manufacturable, and aesthetically clean structure capable of supporting high cyclic loads while ensuring smooth cable operation and long-term reliability.
The entire assembly was developed in SolidWorks using weldment features and parametric modeling techniques. Special attention was given to structural integrity, material optimization, manufacturability, and ease of assembly. Standard steel profiles were utilized to minimize fabrication costs while maintaining the required strength and stiffness.
The design process included:
Parametric 3D modeling of the complete cable tower assembly
Weldment structure design using standard steel sections
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) considerations
Structural layout and component integration
Manufacturing-ready fabrication drawings
Assembly verification and interference checking
Bill of Materials (BOM) generation
Software Used:
SolidWorks
AutoCAD
Deliverables:
Complete 3D assembly model
Individual part models
Detailed fabrication drawings
