400 mm × 8 m Modular Belt Conveyor for Automated Material Handling
This project involved the design and development of a 400 mm wide × 8 m long modular belt conveyor engineered for efficient product transportation in automated manufacturing and packaging facilities. The objective was to provide a durable, low-maintenance conveyor system capable of delivering smooth, reliable product flow while accommodating various product sizes and production rates.
The conveyor was designed in SolidWorks using a fully parametric modeling approach, allowing easy customization of conveyor length, width, elevation, and support configuration. The system incorporates a modular plastic belt, precision-machined drive and idler shafts, stainless steel support structure, adjustable guide rails, and robust drive components to ensure dependable performance in continuous industrial operation.
Particular attention was given to belt tracking, structural rigidity, drive efficiency, and ease of maintenance. The modular belt design enables quick replacement of damaged sections, improved cleaning accessibility, and long service life compared to conventional belt systems. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles were applied throughout the project to optimize fabrication, assembly, and installation.
