In my field, when it’s hard to visualize new design ideas, my job is to draw and create 3D models, technical drawings, and realistic renderings of buildings, structures, furniture, and lighting, so all aspects of the design can be seen to better make changes or improvements as needed. I own and operate a mechanical design services business. I have 11 US Patents My hourly rate may be a bit higher, but you get what you pay for! Your design is not a place to be cheap. I have been using Solidworks doing intensive design projects since 1997, and used other CAD systems for many years before that (in fact I started with a pencil and a drafting board). I am a creative and self-motivated mechanical engineer who is passionate about design and particularly interested in design for manufacturing. In addition to a strong mechanical design foundation, I possess strong problem-solving and communication skills. For me, product design is not just about solving puzzles. It’s about connecting with people through the things we create and making a product that solves a problem in their lives. I love the process of bringing an idea or a product to the next level, whether I’m creating an industrial design to satisfy the market’s demands, a functional prototype to get people’s attention, or a mass-manufacturable model to bring down costs. In 2013 I bought my first 3D printer as a kit, and used it to start a small business called Mindforge Design. As part of Mindforge, I designed and sold Maryland-themed 3D printed items to the University of Maryland community. Eventually I built a printer of my own which evolved into Readybox, the fastest consumer 3D printer on the market at the time. Readybox had a successful Kickstarter campaign in late 2015, reaching and exceeding its funding goal in only 18 hours. Since graduating in 2017 with a BS in mechanical engineering I’ve been working as a mechanical engineer at Harbor Designs and Manufacturing, where I’ve designed mechanical systems and parts for a multitude of consumer products. I specialize in injection molding and sheet metal design, and in bringing a project from inception through production. Today you can find me designing new products in and out of work every day. I have industry experience in food, automotive, automation, and fabrication. My specialty is in the area of product design.
