I am a Mechanical Reverse CAD Engineer with a First-Class BEng in Mechanical Engineering and professional experience across mechanical design, reverse engineering, and manufacturing-ready engineering documentation. I currently specialise in scan-to-CAD and reverse engineering for turbine and rotating machinery applications.
My work involves reverse engineering existing components where original drawings are missing, incomplete, or obsolete. This includes 3D scanning and manual measurement, identification of critical dimensions, tolerances, hole depths, and threads (metric and imperial), reconstruction of design intent, creation of accurate parametric CAD models and assemblies, and production of clear, machinist-ready 2D drawings to ISO standards.
I regularly work hands-on with physical components, carrying out strip-downs and reassembly to understand fit, function, and real-world constraints rather than simply recreating geometry. I am experienced in working with worn or damaged parts and applying engineering judgement to ensure components are practical to manufacture, inspect, and assemble.
My background is in mechanical design engineering, having previously worked in bespoke industrial equipment, oil & gas systems, piping, and structural design environments. I am currently focused on reverse engineering within the turbine sector, where accuracy, tolerancing, and reliability are critical.
Software experience includes:
• Fusion 360 – parametric modelling, assemblies, drawings, tolerancing, and manufacturing documentation
• Geomagic Design X – scan-to-CAD workflows, mesh cleanup, surface reconstruction, deviation analysis
• Autodesk Inventor – mechanical design, assemblies, and drawings
• SolidWorks – advanced part modelling, assemblies, surface modelling, and drawings
• AutoCAD – 2D engineering drawings and layouts
• ANSYS / Abaqus (academic) – structural and mechanical analysis fundamentals
I typically support machine shops, maintenance teams, OEM aftermarket teams, and engineering companies that require dependable CAD models and drawings they can confidently manufacture from, particularly for legacy, rotating, or turbine-related components.
